Eva Moreno is an Austrian musician with Venezuelan roots, who started her musical career at the age of five in her hometown of Kapfenberg, Styria.
Already by the age of 13 she acted as front woman in various musical projects from Jazz and Latin to Soul and R’n’B. The results were cooperations with well-known names of the Austrian music scene. Amongst others she’s been working together with Ewald Pfleger (Opus), Robby Musenbichler (lead guitarist of The Rainhard Fendrich Band) and producers like Gerd Schuller, Hannes Oberwalder and Erik Asatrian. In 2018 she worked with Austrian pianist Martin Reiter as well as the young Motown-Funkband Mashiko. Since 2019 she has been a member of the Austro-Venezuelan Salsa band, Ismael Barrios‘ Salsa Explosion. The same year she joined the electronic indie-pop band ELIS NOA as a live singer and pianist. Her latest salsa project, KERNÖL SALSAKLUB mixes Austropop classica with Salsa Arrangements.
Additionally, Eva Moreno has been the voice for the music of various brand advertisements, such as Radio Gong 96.3 (Munich), Zipfer Beer, and Wiener Zucker.
Her main artistic project, Eva Moreno Group, was founded in 2013 together with Gunther Schuller and has since released two albums: Running through Life (2015) and Stories of a Mind (2021), which featured the British rapper Klumzy Tung. In 2019 they performed as support act for Candy Dulfer.
Eva Moreno has received some accolades for her work as a young artist. In 2016 she was nominated as Head of the Year in the category Cultural Work by the Austrian newspaper Kleine Zeitung. One year later, in 2017, she was accepted into the Marianne Mendt Youth Promotion Program. In 2022 she received the Youth Award for Cultural Work by the city of Kapfenberg.
Having degrees in both jazz vocal performance and singing & instrumental music pedagogy, Eva Moreno is currently studying in the Masters program for Ethnomusicology at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, specialising in the field of Afro-Caribbean music.
Furthermore, she acquired the Certificate for Cultural Management ("Zertifikatslehrgang für Kulturmanagement“) at the Institute for Culture Concepts Vienna ("Institut für Kulturkonzepte Wien“).
Currently, Eva Moreno as technical assistant and event organizer at the University of Music and performing Arts Vienna.
